About

Sustainability can be confusing. Clare Goes Green was founded when we realised that despite the vast media coverage on ‘sustainably’, most of us still have very little understanding of how the emissions caused by different parts of our lives compare, and some supposedly ‘eco’ choices can actually be worse for your carbon footprint than the alternative.

We can’t cut emissions if we don’t know what behaviours are causing them!

We show people how the choices they make control their environmental impact, so that any effort they dedicate to environmentalism is applied in the most effective way. Learn more here.

What We Do

We run social media campaigns to inform students and staff as well as fundraisers for environmental causes. We have organised votes among the Clare student body which resulted in the buttery transitioning to more sustainable meal options, and last year 60 students completed our January ‘VeganuClarey Challenge’ to reduce ruminant meat and dairy consumption in favour of more sustainable foods. Our environmental posters received special praise from the Cambridge Green Impact Awards and over 150 people from across the University and beyond got involved in our Green Weekends information campaign.

We’re always looking for new members and anyone is welcome to come along to our meetings. If you’re passionate about making a difference to Clare’s environmental impact and carbon footprint, please do Get Involved.
